his time the tramp crew serve you with a delicious double sider by wayne mcghie. -the love you save- was never released when recorded in 1972 and this long-lost track is now available here for the first time on 45! in 1972, wayne signed with record producer greg hambleton and, with former members of the hitchhikers, recorded a couple of tracks including -love is the answer- and -the love you save- at toronto sound studios. -love is the answer- was released later that year as a 45rpm single with the instrumental version on the flip, however -the love you save- was never relaesed. now, more than four decades later, the music of wayne mcghie has been re-discovered and his songs and musicianship are finally receiving the attention so long deserved.

( ps he still has all the patterns for the rx-5 from the original release so remaster, remixes and rereleases are in schmer s future, huzzah!) bpmf the original schmer artist had nothing better to do so he kommt back and gave us this track. we love to torture the engineer so we just had to include some loops: rhizome is the alter-ego of moscow wunderkind nikita zabelin. philly based hero/victim has been victimizing soundsystems up and down the east coast with his mad live performances. the wise caucasian is a pseudonym for some super famous london based producer and label owner, or at least thats what he claimed when i picked up his bar tab.

five years deep into the game, all nine lives fully intact: utrechtian feral feline larry de kat prowls his way onto pets. and we really dont need to tell you how purrrrfectly apt this debut union is. fresh from launching his own katnip imprint (and putting the final touches on a hush-hush disco edit series), pets have managed to prise four of his finest, broadest creations from his creative claws. each one floorbound, each one backing up the hype hes enjoyed from the likes of axel boman, mark e and laurent garnier, each one making us feel like cats who got the creamiest of creams. i know you can hear me’ takes the lead on a more direct tip that you might expect from de kat. big pumps wrapped in a fine vibe balance of detroit and parisian house textures, but done with larrys signature dubby, jacking style, its the perfect paws-sitive statement of intent. slinking deeper into the ep, naakte groove lives up to its nude name with a lean-but-warm bass riff that purrs with finesse around a straight-up strutting drum arrangement. so much fun in such a tight, detailed groove, youll want this on loop forever.amlou stalks up behind with dusty, thumping charm. rolling and scratching like it was 20 years younger, theres an innate physicality in the drums that snaps you out when the big disco hook rides in from nowhere. finally we hit she doesnt. the dubbiest groove of the set, all eyes are on that bulbous sub, rippling synths and precision tuned snare shot. hypnotic, heavy, unhurried and heads down. these sounds are fur real. like all the best stray cats, expect larry to return to pets as and when he pleases.

sun, skyy, earth wind & fire..., brooklyn-based igbo (indigo green brown orange) reflect an elemental foundation of classic 70s and 80s funk and soul through a prism of hip arrangements and decidedly modern production befitting the diverse set of talented stage performers and composers they are. a sun-drenched celebration of life and musical positivity, their sonic palette evokes the same brilliant and playful colors as their name, the two songs presented here (on 45 for the first time) bursting with irresistible charm. it s a breath of uplifting fresh air in today s hyper-serious club landscape.

they are dangerous is the second song released by senator gary. the riddim was build by the late great keyboard player winston wright (1944-1993) and the vocal was recorded at creative sound studio. the tune was produced by neville reid who died a few years ago. senator gary is also called imara, abbasani and now he is voicing under the name of i-maa-raa. so the quest to find him was not so easy, thanks to marshall neeko for the help.

rhythm plate released one of the best releases on hudd traxx in 2007, half of rp returns under the guise of goshawk for hudd 055. matt brings astral t back with him for the a1 track and my heart certainly gives inside me a run for it s money. warm chords, lush vocals and slick beats are all laid down to perfection to kick off the ep in fine style.a2 follows the deep tones set on a1 with the wonderful high in the evergreens. the b side kicks off in a more upbeat style with yes in this way which would fit nicely in a derrick carter peak time set. goshawk finishes off with a cheeky garage number that is reminiscent of grant nelson s early work on nice n ripe which can only be a good thing.

next in our 12 x 12 series is this total fxcking peach of a collaboration made in 2002 by three peers with a mutual passion for the deepest, original nyc garage and house grooves. it’s the first time that longtime friends sprinkles and snd have used their collective handle you speak what i feel since an appearance on a comatonse 10th anniversary compilation back in 2003, and finds the trio at their deadliest, producing a deep-as-anything, peak-time doozy riding a strolling bassline, pointillist claps and effervescent chords for 10 minutes of swingers’ bliss.

times are ruff is here with the 11th edition of its imprint, showcasing some of the styles the label stands for, percussive, jazzy, hypnotic and rhythmic house-music. tar011 is a dance floor oriented 4-tracker by alex fields and pete bandit. the guys behind the collaborative times are ruff project & label (which they do together with resistance orchestra) bring you this time two solo tracks each. 

alex fields brings two tracks to the table which both are based on a jazzy foundation without becoming lazy. fields pushes his drums and patterns to overdrive to uplift every dancefloor, while keeping the melody side musically interesting with jazzy solos. bandit keeps it more rhythmic and straight-forward on his side, with a percussive driven beat-track and a small wink to earlier more hypnotic tar releases with his track ruff street.

in search for where the wild things are, under black helmet and label boss moerbeck have teamed up for the 12th release on code is law. sailing into the night on side a, mørbeck delivers two trippy techno cuts, while under black helmet is misbehaving on side b.

thats desire/here we are ep is a 12inch vinyl and digital release by fragile, wolfgang tillmans evolving band project that spans from early recordings in 1986 with bert leßmann to a full band ensemble made up of a group of musicians in new york in 2016. the double a-side ep opens with thats desire, a collaboration with the new york rapper ash b. the song evokes associations with dfa, daf and a queer talking heads. in a spontaneous action ash b. takes over the mic and raps over tillmans heartfelt lyrics, originally written in 1985, combined with a funky bass line by thomas roach. the experiment results in a driving indie-dance sensation about the pleasure and pain of getting lost in ones own desire.

following on from the acclaimed “talk from home”, suzanne kraft returns to melody as truth with a second full release, “what you get for being young”. recorded in amsterdam over the course of may 2016, “what you get for being young” offers a full immersion into kraft’s ever-evolving world. a milky tip! . lush, digital manipulated synths spread across cold surfaces, metallic drums dance around skeletal song structures. whilst echoes of “talk from home” remain, they are but faint echoes, as kraft’s recent exploration into sound-design and digital manipulation confidently posits “what you get for being young” as an entirely new chapter in the artist’s growing narrative

the new various artists ep on circus records proves that grooves, thumping techno and fun can all be placed in one package. ey guapa by falko richtberg is a summer review with playful grooves and a few exciting and unexpected sounds included. the tronic love dj on big fm radio makes his first appearance on circus records and what a debut this is! the cologne based dompe presents us katharina, a tune built for the dancefloor. a dark bassline and a cracking hi-hat only interrupted by short breaks, make sure the party keeps on rolling. circus records boss mikel mckay presents us his junglefever and this will find many a fan not only in the tribal movement, but also amongst most tech-house lovers. with mikels releases on bcb tec and of course circus records, he has made many a fan, including the likes of richie hawtin, ricardo villalobos and magda. hope you enjoy!

spanish techno master reeko makes his mark on detroit underground with a release exploring the darker facets of humanity in mesmerizing fashion, with rhythm and drone taking equal importance.

it all began with a licensing inquiry for a sister funk cut which we wanted to include on our deep funk comp titled “feeling nice vol. 3”. after the deal was completed producer fred forsh mentioned that the backing band of nadine brown’s masterpiece “leave me alone” had released a 45 themselves under their name teakwood. after mr. forsh played us both sides we knew that this 45 would have to be re-issued. what was about to follow nobody of us ever expected. mr. forsh told us that teakwood recorded almost a dozen of songs which were supposed to be released on a full length album. for unspecified reasons the album was never released and it remained in the can for almost 40 years. finally, we are very proud to announce the release of teakwood’s debut album “a distant star” in early 2017. until then you have to be content with this 45 rpm single re-issue.

future sessions is proud to have two great producers such as g.marcell and myles serge both hailing from the midwest. now to the music and we have g.marcell “damaged earth ( you ) which flows with so much goodness and the chords and pads are the aesthetics to this amazing journey with its pounding kick and its deep bass most def one of favorites at the moment then we have g.marcell “ sea side “ with its think kick and its driving bass gives it that tripped out start then right into the deep pads and its movings synth’s which joins into this well thought out track strickley for the deep minded. then we have myles serge “ glass” which starts out very rough with its pounding kick and its melodic key’s right into a solid jacking gritty sound myles is know for. then last but not least we have myles serge “ shift “ this one is very raw with it’s techno clash drums and percussions and its jabbing synth’s and it’s invading pads a very latenight track for sure and its heavy laden detroit sound … we want to thank you at future sessions for allowing us to be he we are true music lovers and that is all much love to you …power to the people and god bless you

one more time we choose two little known gems for re-release on 45 rpm single. another single by the same group is pretty in demand by funk 45 collectors. these two sides are not that much known but they certainly deserve the same attention. while funky you is pretty good, uptempo funk, the b-side is the real beauty of this record. love come down is a fine example of chicago soul which has not been re-released yet. hopefully many people appreciate the work behind this release, from both the original musicians as well as those who are responsible for this high quality re-issue.

after his last ep b.a.b.e on drumpoet community look like aka luca duran is back with a new release on akoya circles. the solid and versatile four-tracker spring and you again shows his capacity to produce tracks that are inspired by the old detroit and chicago house music combined with modern elements. opener spring & you is oriented by the early detroit sample process and reminds us of the beauty and simplicity of this area. a2 arms akimbo the most disco oriented track on this 12inch is a timeless swing weapon. on the b side nothing to fear a heavy disco-house tune that certainly demands a shaking hip. followed by b2 white stairs a late night stomper. unsurprisingly the releases of the young colombian - swiss producer look like are receiving support from heavyweight diggers like laurent garnier, ben ufo, dvs1& dam swindle.

funk was the syncopated groove that emerged in the mid-sixties through hits from james brown and dyke and the blazers. it was a natural development out of rhythm and blues. thousands of local bands tried to emulate brown’s success, and in the process created a plethora of rare and sought after 45s and album cuts that have been mined by djs and producers to fill floors or provide breakbeats. whilst the 20 tracks on this compilation would cost you thousands of pounds to own on their original issue, that isn’t really the point. instead you get to listen to magnificent grooves such as mickey & the soul generations explosive ‘iron leg’, andrew brown’s blues tinged ‘you made me suffer’ or the message music of 24 carat black.
